The story

Sirius Harbour sits around Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. Sirius is about 25 times as bright as the Sun, so the solar arrays make 600 MW here: the Terra Empire’s most energy-rich port. In blue-white light the panels need cooling.

Its companion Sirius B, found in 1862, was the first white dwarf: the mass of the Sun in the size of Earth. The port carries a telescope array that watches it.

Missions

  • Real counterparts: Hubble’s images of Sirius B

Colony note

A port, not a settlement. Only members of the Terra Empire may dock (join from the War tab).

What probes bring back

  • Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky: about 25 times the Sun’s luminosity, so solar arrays here make far more than in Earth orbit.
  • Its companion Sirius B, found in 1862, was the first white dwarf: the mass of the Sun in the size of Earth.
